NUP’s Bobi Wine this week released a pool of declaration forms indicating that he won the January 14th election amidst massive ballot stuffing.

The Electoral Commission has come out to remind Ugandans not to be taken up by the declaration forms presented by NUP’s Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine because they are fake and not based on facts.

According to Justice Simon Byabakama the Electoral Commission chairperson, who was responding to Kyagulanyi’s claims of vote-rigging in the January 14 polls, the declaration forms presented by the latter do not correlate with those in the EC records.

Byabakama noted that each candidate was given copies of the DR forms to compare with those from his agents and during that time, each had 15 days to file a petition to the court in case they felt dissatisfied with the election outcomes.

The EC boss wondered why Kyagulanyi even after filing a petition to the Supreme Court in demand for reelection failed to present these forms to the court books and went on to parade them before the so-called ‘public court’.

“If he felt strongly that indeed he won the election, why didn’t he utilise the opportunity of having filed the petition to the Supreme court to present these forms? Every candidate obtained copies of the DR forms and from that time under the law any aggrieved person had 15 days to file a petition. Now what stopped Hon Kyagulanyi from filing these DR forms?,” Byabakama questioned.

“What is the basis of his claim that he won the election on the account of what is contained in the DR forms which he has?whereas the DR forms in our possession show a different picture,” he added.

This, however, comes a time when Kyagulanyi earlier this week called for peaceful public demonstrations in regards to the election outcomes.

The NUP leader Bobi Wine this week released a pool of declaration forms indicating that he won the January 14th election amidst massive ballot stuffing from those in the ruling party.

“Our computation from the DR forms shows that we won with 54.19%, despite the massive ballot stuffing which Gen. Museveni engaged in. This morning we have given details of our election results, and thereafter we’ll release the DR forms on our website,” Kyagulanyi revealed this week urging the general public to protest peacefully in demand for an audit into the elections.

“We demand that Gen. Museveni returns the victory of the people of Uganda. If he claims, even remotely that he won this election, we demand that there is an INDEPENDENT AUDIT of the election.”
