Early Life and Education
Frederick Kitaka was born in August 1962 in the Central region of Uganda.
Frederick is the son of the late Francis Xavier Kitaka, the founder of MTK Uganda Ltd, the human and animal pharmaceutical company. Unfortunately, his father succumbed to Covid-19 on September 12th, 2020.
Frederick is married to Doreen, and together they have three children; Phillip, Vanessa and Annalisa.
He went to St. Mary’s College Kisubi for both his O’level and A’level education.
Frederick Kitaka went to Makerere University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Physics degree.
In 1991, he graduated with a Master of Business Administration in accounting and financial management from the University of Buckingham, United Kingdom.
Career and Professional Work Experience
Frederick Kitaka worked as the Accounting Manager of Coopers Uganda Limited, which was later renamed MTK Holdings Limited, from 1994 to 2002.
In 1997, the three founders of MTK combined with George Baguma, Frederick Mutebi Kitaka and Emmanuel Katongole to found Quality Chemicals Limited (QCL).
He was the director of finance of Quality Chemicals Limited from 2002 until 2005.
He was appointed chief financial officer of Quality Chemical Industries Limited in 2005.
QCL then persuaded Cipla, an Indian pharmaceutical company in 2004 to form a joint venture and build a pharmaceutical factory in Uganda giving birth to Cipla Quality Chemical Industries Ltd, a modern pharmaceutical manufacturing facility located in Luzira Industrial Park in Kampala, Uganda.
Frederick operates in pharmaceutical manufacturing, real estate, finance, and retail. His primary goal is to establish a real estate portfolio that includes residential and commercial properties, shopping centres, and hotels.
Frederick’s lasting legacy, however, is his pharmaceutical manufacturing business, which he worked hard to develop from nothing and grow into a coherent, very productive, and exotic-looking enterprise valued at USD 350 million.
Achievements and Awards
Frederick Kitaka is an African Leadership Initiative Fellow of the 3rd class, an initiative for successful men and women in their fields of attempt, who are committed to advancing and personally demonstrating effective values-based leadership in their countries.
He is a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network, a global network of over 3,000 high-integrity, entrepreneurial leaders from business, government, and the nonprofit sector from over 50 nations.
Frederick sits on the board of Cipla Quality Chemical Industries Ltd.
He is a board member of Quality Chemicals Ltd.
He also sits on the board of Legacy Capital Partners, a private equity real estate investment firm based in Tanzania.
Frederick Kitaka is a board member of Biashara Capital based in Uganda, a company that lends finances for businesses.
He is also a board member of Buganda Investment and Commercial Undertakings Limited, a Buganda government investments holding company.
