FUFA to cater for travel expenses of clubs representing Uganda in CAF tournaments – KCCA FC and Proline FC to benefit.
The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) Executive Committee has approved funding for CAF tournaments club competitions representatives.
According to the FUFA Finance Director, Decolas Kiiza, this is aimed at extending financial assistance to clubs representing the country in the CAF tournaments – Champions League and Confederation Cup.
“We now have resources for other football activities and stakeholders to develop the game of football in Uganda,” FUFA statement.
Through this, the football governing body will assume the expenses of travel by plane in an economy class of the participating team for a maximum of 25 persons (18 players and 7 officials) from Entebbe to the Airport of the host Country within the provisions of the relevant tournament regulations.
“FUFA has made strides as a result of increased Government funding for the Uganda Cranes activities. We now have resources for other football activities and stakeholders to develop the game of football in Uganda,” Kiiza noted.
Relatively, FUFA shall also assume the expenses of travel by plane and allowances for the Leader of Delegation.
However, the federation has called upon participating clubs to provide in writing to their CEO the list of the travelling contingent 14 days to the intended date of departure.
Meanwhile, it also warned that it will not cater for expenses arising out of any changes (for whatever reason) to the air tickets originally issued.
KCCA and Proline will be the pioneer beneficially of the new development as they represent the country in CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup respectively.
KCCA won the 2018 StarTimes Uganda Premier League while Proline beat Bright Stars in the Uganda Cup final to book a place in the CAF Confederation Cup.
