Nkunyingi Muwada, a city lawyer, once threatened to sue Electoral Commission (EC) chairperson Justice Simon Byabakama for failing to provide him with President Yoweri Museveni’s academic documents as required by the Access to Information Act

Muwada asked the EC in an August 21, 2020 letter to provide him with academic documents that candidate Museveni used to compete in the 2016 presidential candidates, as required by the Presidential Elections Act 2005.

Muwada told the press today that he had yet to receive an official response from the EC nearly two weeks later.

In August 2022, Hon. Betty Amongi, minister of gender, labour, and social development, has chastised some Ugandans for making false claims about being homeless in the Middle East.

She added that while some Ugandans are truly stranded, others play pranks on being homeless and sleeping on the streets in cities such as Dubai.

The opposition is planning to task the government with finding ways to repatriate Ugandans who are detained in the United Arab Emirates, according to Muwada Nkunyingi, the shadow minister of Foreign Affairs.

Most have been arrested for overstaying, while others have had their passports withdrawn by their bosses.

Juma Kirya spoke with Nkunyingi, who recently returned from a trip to Dubai, where he found extra time to visit some Ugandans who live in Dubai, and discovered that some of them live in the spaces between train stages.
