Jinja RDC Sakwa bans and relates Besigye to Desert LocustsForum for Democratic Change (FDC) former president, the leader People’s Government, and the four-time presidential candidate Dr Kizza Besigye Kifeffe have been announced unwanted visitor in Jinja District.

Eric Sakwa, the Jinja Residence District Commissioner (RDC) who made the announcement said that every time Besigye visits the area, he causes chaos and disrupts traffic flow and business in Jinja.

Sakwa’s announcement follows the Wednesday 26th/February/2020 incident that happened in Jinja when Police and UPDF stormed Sunset Hotel arresting Dr Kizza Besigye for the third time in the District dragging him to Nalufenya Police Station.

His arrest caused chaos prompting Police to fire teargas to disperse the angry FDC supporters who blocked several roads in and out of Jinja town for the greatest part of the day.

“He started using the Hotel (Sunset) as a coordinating point for manufacturing violence and inciting the people. Because the violence that came the following day in the morning was as a result of his stay in Sunset Hotel,” Sakwa said.

Sakwa who equated Dr Besigye to a Desert Locusts which go where they are not wanted should visit other areas instead of frequenting Jinja almost every month.

“We normally accept visitors, but if he intends to be a frequent visitor like a Desert Locust which is rotating everywhere in the country, he must abide with the security guidelines in the district,” Sakwa said.

Sakwa then named Besigye to be an outdated politician who has turned into using chaos to attract public attention around the country.

“He gives the impression that people still love him, but we know that he’s thriving on borrowed support. He’s thriving on the support which is just being bought and this cannot be entertained in Jinja,” Sakwa noted.

Police fired teargas to disperse the angry FDC supporters who blocked several roads in and out of Jinja town for the greatest part of the day.

The Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SP Patrick Onyango reacting to the matter said that any person who destabilizes the business community in Jinja has no space in the area.
