Jumia Uganda has scrapped off Pickup charges that it was charging customers for picking up ordered supermarket items from any of their Pickup Station.
No more pickup charges with Jumia Uganda – Previously, customers were required to pay a small charge at any Jumia Pickup Station to enable them to have immediate access to an item they have ordered for online.
However, Jumia now encourages it’s customers around Kampala that they will be in a position to pick up their ordered supermarket items for free at Bata and Total Stations which are currently acting as it’s two Pickup Stations.
This now means a customer must access the Jumia website and order for supermarket items ranging from sugar, rice, cereal, powdered milk, soap, toothpaste, alcohol, cooking oil and other cooking spices among others.
Once he or she is done making an order, a customer has two options to choose from either delivery (Where your commodities are brought to you at you area of interest be it home or work) or pick up (Which means a customer can go to any Jumia Pickup Station – Bata or Total and pick up their items.
In a bid to strengthen its logistics capabilities and ensure same-day delivery in Kampala for all ‘Jumia Express’ items, Jumia Uganda introduced “Pickup Stations” where a particular customer can have access to an ordered item at their convenience.
In so doing, Jumia collaborates with the Bata shoe store and Total to have some of their service points as pick-up points. This is aimed at providing you with more access points to pick their Jumia orders especially those in upcountry regions.

The new pick up stations also allow you to pay cash on delivery unlike before when upcountry orders were only restricted to a mobile money payment.
What more is Jumia promising?
Jumia will be looking at launching a new style of payment shortly referred to as ‘Jumia pay’ to provide a fast, safe and an easy way to make cashless payments on the Jumia platform.
Jumia is looking to ensure an increase in the number of vendors selling on their platform as a key part of its growth plan. Other potential financial services such as lending are also being worked on for the future.
Besides, Jumia also plans to continue its annual sale discounts including the Jumia Anniversary, Jumia Black Fridays, among others.
