NRM Secretary General Justine Lumumba denies embezzling Shs50 billion meant to be used in the campaigns of president Museveni.

After returning going into isolation for a couple of weeks due to COVID-19, the NRM Secretary General Justine Lumumba resumed working yesterday at the NRM secretariat where she was welcomed by other members of the secretariat.

She started by refuting false claims that where making rounds on how she had stolen 50 billion shillings meant to be used in the campaigns of president Museveni.

“Some people were saying that I had stolen money. The party money is not for Lumumba and is not the only one who signs for the money. We are four people in number who are supposed to sign for the money so as to be released,” Lumumba said.

The secretary-general raised concerns over the big wigs in the party who are continuously spreading these false allegations and she says these kinds of people don’t wish good for the NRM party.

“So if there are those people who claim to be big in the party but they continue to spread such rumors I want to tell you that their intention is make sure the NRM doesn’t win the next election,” Lumumba added.

Lumumba clarified that unlike the previous election; this time around money for each campaign district was put directly on the district account number to limit the spread of COVID and the misallocation of funds

Lumumba added this angered most of the party officials and they started spreading all these false rumours.

“We change the process and procedure in this election. We opened accounts for districts so if there any money going to be used at parish or sub-county level we put money directly at the district account number. We money we used to give those people who used to carry the money physically its that amount we use as bank charges,” Lumumba said.
