The meeting was chaired by the NRM vice chairman of Buganda Godfrey Kiwanda and 15 NRM leaders.
NRM leaders in Buganda, especially in the greater Masaka, met to discuss the causes of their loss during the previous general elections.
Greater Masaka has districts like Masaka, Bukomansimbi, Kalungu and Kyotera and in all these districts NRM was beaten hands down by the opposition, in particular National Unity Platform (NUP).
The meeting was chaired by the NRM vice chairman of Buganda Godfrey Kiwanda and 15 NRM leaders including Sarah Kiyingi who lost to NUP’s Mathias Mpuuga were in attendance.
Sarah Kiyingi said one of the reasons why NRM lost was because of the self-seekers in the party.
“Why should we keep our mouths shut when other parties are all campaigning and shouting people power and yet NRM supporters are quite we also want our people who can shout our bus,” Sarah said.
One of the NRM mobilizers Topisita Nakiwala says NRM lost in Buganda because of the gap between the secretariat and the NRM local mobilizing committees and yet they’re responsible for looking for votes.
“They should get time and go meet the NRM leaders at the grass root so as to know them and the challenges their facing,” Nakiwala said.
Some leaders say the rift between the leaders and the flag bearers at the ground also caused the loss since there was no coordination between the two groups.
The defeat of the vice president was attributed to the land wrangles in the in constituency Bukoto central that saw hundreds of people evicted from their land.

NRM leaders also attacked the Electoral Commission for being corrupt and conniving with the opposition to rig the election of some members. But the NRM Vice-chairman has told them that NRM did not perform badly at all and promised them to address the issues that caused their loss.
“Remember when somebody is voting at the ballot does not give you a reason why he did not vote for you but it’s up to you to find out the reason why he or she didn’t vote for you,” Kiwanda said.
In the previous election, all ministers from the central region were defeated and all their constituencies were taken up by the opposition especially NUP.
Apart from the vice president, other defeated ministers include Rosemary Senidde, John Chrysostom Muyingo, Vincent Ssempijja, Ruth Nankabirwa, Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi and many more.
