Liverpool Football Club battled back from a goal down to claim a 2-1 win over league opponents Tottenham hotspurs at Anfield Stadium yesterday
Striker Harry Kane’s first-half header after a rebound from a Son Heung-min shot from the 18 yards hit the crossbar to give Tottenham the lead against Liverpool.
Pressure piling Liverpool bounced back in the second half with a Jordan Henderson strike inside the box before Mohammed Salah wrapped up the score sheet of the day from a perfectly well-taken penalty after Sadio Mane was brought down in the box.
The win ensured that Klopp’s side did not only maintain their unbeaten run but also remained six points ahead on top of the league.
Liverpool saw their commanding eight-point lead cut to six last week after their draw with Manchester United at Old Trafford.
In other game of the day, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer‘s Manchester United claimed a comfortable 3-1 win over struggling Norwich City at Carrow Road.
In an encounter that saw Manchester also fail to convert two penalties they ensured they record their first away win in the Premier League since February.
Both Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial failed to convert their parents with Tim Krul for Norwich rising to the occasion to deny both forwards the chance of scoring.
Scott McTominay’s strike gave United the lead in the first half before Marcus Rashford made it 2-0 against a poorly playing City side.
Anthony Martial made it 3-0 late in the second half in the 73rd minute before Norwich grabbed a late consolation goal to wrap up the scores.
Meanwhile, Arsenal squandered a 2-0 lead at home to Crystal Palace to draw 2-2 in a match marred by an angry exchange between Granit Xhaka and the home fans.
The two all draw means that Unai Emery‘s time at Arsenal might be in the closing stages after a couple of other disappointing results in the league this season and they next play Liverpool at Anfield.
Sokratis Papastathopoulos and David Luiz struck through set pieces for Arsenal in the first 10 minutes to give the gunners a 2-0 lead over London rivals.
However, Palace bounced back with a perfectly converted penalty from Luka Milivojevic after teammate Wilfried Zaha was initially brought down in the box.
Late in the second half, Jordan Ayew scored Palace’s second of the day to wrapped up a 2-2 scoreline. Arsenal, however, thought they had gotten the winner through defender Sokratis but his strike was disallowed by VAR.
