President Yoweri Museveni Wednesday donated up to 300 million to support in the renovation of the Uganda Martyrs Cathedral of Lira Diocese.

‘’To support these efforts, I will give the church here six tractors. The diocese can rent them out, plus other farming machinery, at an affordable cost to farmers. ‘’

Museveni made the promise while commissioning the refurbished Uganda Martyrs Cathedral of Lira Diocese. He congratulated the Christians of the diocese on this milestone, achieved as they mark their Golden Jubilee.

The President also applauded the role played by the area Archbishop, John Baptist Odama in leading a critical push among the people to create wealth through commercial cassava farming.

‘’We must thank God that 50 years later, Uganda is now peaceful with freedom of worship as one of the liberties enjoyed minus restriction. I also applaud the Christians for leading the push to renovate the church, with us, the outsiders, only lending a hand,’’ Museveni said.
