Peter Kaujju quits KCCA after 9 years of services, set to join UMEME as the head of Communications.

Mr Peter Kaujju resigned from his job of Manager Communications, Public and Corporate Affairs at Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) and is set to join UMEME as the head of Communications.

The letter addressed to the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Public Service on May 30, 2020, Mr Kaujju said that he will cease being an employee of KCCA on July 1, 2020. The letter was also copied to former KCCA acting executive director and the Minister for Kampala affairs.

Mr Kaujju joined KCCA in April 2011 and has worked for the authority nine years. Kaujju joined KCCA while coming from Uganda Revenue Authority where he was part of the communication department. He thanked the government of Uganda and KCCA for allowing him to work for the authority.

“It has been a monumental nine years of professional growth and personal development and transformed the city. I am especially delighted to have significantly contributed to the positioning of KCCA as a stakeholder centric, highly recognizable, respectable, and vibrant brand within and outside Uganda,” Kaujju’s letter read.

Kaujju bragged of having created and started KCCA’s public and corporate affairs department and creating a robust system which he said that it has positioned institution among the top government agencies.

“During this period, I am glad to have played a pivotal role in planning and advising the management team on the matter of communication and public relations as well as spearheading stakeholder engagement for the institution,” he added.

The departure of Kaujju, however, leaves a vacuum in the authority’s department of communications corporate and public affairs. Kaujju said he leaves behind a strong system of well-trained staff to take forward the department.

His departure has come at a time of a massive shakeup at the authority by President Museveni.

Over the weekend President Museveni fired the acting executive director Eng. Andrew Kitaka and his deputy Sserunkuma. Mrs Kisaka, who is expected to replace Kitaka and is currently the Deputy Head of the Delivery Unit at the office of the Prime Minister, charged with fast-tracking the execution of government programs.

She also serves at COVID -19 Response Fund Task Force as an administrator. She is also the Executive Director of Executive Consults. Kisaka previously served as the Commissioner Legal affairs of the NRM Electoral Commission when Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda was at the top.
