President Museveni has revealed that he was cheated in the just concluded presidential elections, blames rival Bobi Wine for mass rigging.

President Yoweri Tibuhaburwa Museveni has revealed that he was cheated in the just concluded presidential elections. He was declared a winner in the January 14 polls with 58.38% while NUP’s Kyagulanyi came second with 35.08%.

However, during his Sunday address to the nation, Museveni revealed that his percentage could have been higher than that if the election was not marred with massive cheating.

The president said that the opposition was in court recently claiming that NRM had cheated in the elections but said it was Bobi Wine’s group more so in areas around Kampala that engaged in ballot stuffing.

“The case in court is now finished. I couldn’t comment because there was a case in court which had been taken there by Hon. Kyagulanyi saying that NRM had cheated them,” Museveni said.

“On the contrary, it was Kyagulanyi’s group that cheated massively. There was massive ballot stuffing here in Kampala and in other parts of the country where we (NRM) had weak organization.”

Museveni also, said that despite the massive ballot cheating, NRM won the elections with ease. The president said that NRM is like an elephant and all its enemies did was to injure its ear.

“Despite the massive cheating, NRM won, because it is a massive party. It is just like an elephant. All those who were intimidating just injured the ear of the elephant but it is still standing,” Museveni added.

The President further said that they have been receiving threats from NUP supporters in regards to stopping the swearing-in of the President but warned that they will not allow anyone to destabilize the country’s peace.

Museveni also warned officers who neglect their duties that they will be held accountable. He said that is why he has been forced to deploy the army on several scandals because they are more compliant and law-abiding.

“I have reports here of intimidation by Kyagulanyi’s group mainly in Buganda and Busoga. All this is documented and what was interesting was the police not intervening. The opposition had been planning that they will stop the swearing-in of the President but they won’t,” Museveni

“NRM had also been infiltrated by parasites who don’t do anything but take money away from the system. All those policemen who did not do their duty will be held accountable. That is why we had to eventually bring in the army to crush this criminality that has been going on.”
