  • On the dial pad of your phone, enter *185#.
  • Choose option 10 which is “My Account”
  • Choose option 8 which is “My Transaction Reversals”
  • Select Option 1 which is “Initiate Transaction Reversal”
  • Select option 1which is “Other Send Transactions”
  • The Transaction ID from your Airtel Money message should be entered at this point.
  • Verify the sender, recipient, and transaction information.
  • To verify the reverse transaction, enter your Airtel Money PIN.

To get the money back right away after starting a transaction reversal on your phone with Airtel Money, call the recipient and request them to approve.

How to approve a reversal if you’re the receiver

  • Dial *185# on your phone
  • Select option 10, My Account.
  • Choose option 8, My Transaction Reversals.
  • Go to option 2, Approve Transaction Reversal).
  • Choose the transaction from the list (option 1) if it’s only 1 person that has started a reversal.
  • Finally, enter your Airtel Money PIN to confirm the reversal.

Additionally, it’s likely possible that the receiver may refuse to approve the reversal. In cases such as these, quickly call the Airtel customer service line at *100 and ask the representative to approve your reversal so you can get your money back immediately.

After three days, if the recipient or customer service representative has not confirmed the transaction, your money will be immediately sent back to your phone without further action being necessary.
