Amuru hot springs

The Amuru hot springs is situated in Paga parish, Amoro sub-county, Kilak county, about 35 kilometers from the town of Gulu. The largest hot spring in northern Uganda has an area of roughly 100 square meters.

The hot spring has a lot of potential for tourism exploitation even if it is undeveloped. The topography in the area is ideal for creating camping and excursion grounds.

Atiak Colobus Monkeys

The Atiak forest reserve, which is close to the Albert Nile, is home to a significant population of colobus monkeys. They are quite a rare type of mammal.

Additionally, the place harbors a vast diversity of bird species and short forest canopies in the savannah region.

All these work together to provide a potential attraction that might be improved by tourist paths and camp/excursion sites to produce the ideal result.

Hill Climbing

In the area, several isolated hills provide opportunities for hill climbing. They include Kilak, Ato, Patiko, and Moro hills.

Cultural Events and Antiquities

To properly capitalize on the potential advantages of tourism, the Acholi dance and antiquities still need improvement.

There are plans in place to construct a cultural center for handicrafts, mementos, and cultural adornments and regalia. This will all be found in Gulu town and is to be built by the local government.

Hotel and Catering

At the time of this research, the Gulu district had 26 places to stay. As of now, numerous new lodging facilities have opened up.

This is seemingly in response to an increase in demand from the district’s aid organizations. 535 and more beds could be found within the district.

Among the top hotels in the area are Hotel Pearl Afrique in Gulu town and the Tochi Resort Beach, Paraa Safari Lodge in Murchison Falls. About 419 people were working in the Hotel and catering business.

Karuma Falls

Karuma Falls is divided into three sections: the southern section is in Masindi, the eastern section is in Apac district, and the western section is in Gulu district.

There is a proposed subterranean hydroelectric dam at Karuma Falls. It’s intended to cause the apparent nature of the falls the least amount of interruption possible.

The falls in the Masindi district, which already has tourist campgrounds on the southern bank, offer a lot of potential for tourism development.
