Zouk Stars Kassav coming to Uganda for Uganda-France Friendship Week 2020 by the Johnnie Walker
On 27 February at the residence of French Ambassador to Uganda H.E. Jules-Armand Aniambossou is when the Uganda-France Friendship Week 2020 was launched.
Being in its fourth edition, this week is filled with a series of events to celebrate cordial relations between the two countries.
In a conference with media held at the French Ambassador’s residence in Kampala, Annette Nakiyaga, who is the Head of Luxury Portfolio in Uganda Breweries advised Ugandans to show up in big numbers for the upcoming fete.

Among the nine activities that should be extremely anticipated for include fashion, culture, dance, music, art, defence cooperation, gastronomy and sports. For effectiveness in celebrating their long-standing friendship,2020’s Friendship Week will run from March 21st to 28th.
21st March is when the concert will commence with the Francophone (culture) celebration to be held at French School Les Grands Lacs in Lugogo and followed by All-Stars football game featuring Yaya Touré and Samuel Eto among others against the Uganda Cranes Legends.

To make the Week super spiced-up, prevalent Zouk band Kassav will fly in the country being hosted by Johnnie Walker and revellers to the event will be thrilled with a vibrant presentation from the band’s hit song ‘Ou le’ which is extremely famous in Uganda.
The electrified performance will be staged at Kyadondo Rugby Club grounds on Saturday, 28th March 2020 at the grand finale of the week-long event.
In 1979, Kassav which is a Caribbean band was formed in Guadeloupe with core members of the band like Jacob Desvarieux, Jocelyne Beroard, Jean-Philippe Marthely, Claude Vamur, Patrick St. Eloi, Jean-Claude Naimro, Georges Decimus (who left to form Volt Face and returned), so this music group has attained irresistible importance not only in France but also across the world existing as instrumental in spreading Zouk music.
Vibrant in music, this band has managed to release over 20 albums with a further 12 solo albums by band members.
More with performances alongside Kassav will be Vegedream who is originally known as Sachtela Evrard Djedje who is a French-speaking urban pop, hip-hop and R&B musician of Ivorian background.
He is signed under Universal Music France and well known for his hit song ‘Ramenez la coupe a la Maison’ which topped the French SNEP Singles Chart and dominated for a long time.
With the local Ugandan artists, the event will feature Jose Chameleone, Vinka, Bebe Cool among others.
