President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni addressed the nation at State House and on all television and radio stations across the country yesterday evening and issued orders amid COVID 19 outbreak.
He issued several other orders and guidelines to Ugandan citizens in an attempt to prevent the spread of coronavirus after reports from the Ministry of Health indicated an increase in COVID-19 patients to 14 in Uganda.
Museveni has banned the use of taxis, buses, boda boda and other public transportation.
He also directed and advised market vendors and other government officials to stay home, but excluded those dealing in foodstuffs such as matooke sellers, meat packers, food stations and this direction was effective on Thursday morning.
The people banned from carrying passengers, however, have challenged all the orders and continued to move around the city with passengers.
It is business as usual in places such as Kasubi, Nankulabye, Gayaza and several boda boda riders are seen with passengers moving around the city.
Several cyclists and drivers said they couldn’t stay home because of home demands and necessities such as food, electricity, water bills and they decided to risk their vehicles being towed and confiscated by police.
