Betty Kamya has urged Ugandans to stop locking horns with Museveni citing that he is the right person to drive Uganda from being a third world country.

The State Minister for Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Betty Kamya has urged Ugandans to stop locking horns with president Museveni citing that he is the right person to drive Uganda from being a third world country.

Betty Kamya made the remarks while attending a talk show program on NBS TV earlier this week. She said that Uganda should borrow a leaf from nations like Singapore that have allowed their leaders time and space to work and make advancements.

She said that although many Ugandans admire the United States setting of presidents ruling on term, basis it is not an effective move for Uganda.

“In Singapore, they allowed the leader to build the country from a third world country without looking over his shoulders. He handed over to his son, and they are happy. Each country should look at what is good for it. In Uganda, we look at the American system, which is not even working for them,”Kamya said.

In addition, she lashed out at Ugandans who continue to bring up Museveni’s age whenever they want to justify their reasons for desiring change.

Kamya explained that whereas old people tend to wear out, there are also those that remain strong and determined until they die. She said that some people get demolarised by 35 years of age.

“The thing of age is so subjective. Some people are 35 but demobilized,” Kamya added in support of Museveni to continue ruling the country.

She further said that there are countries where there was strong agitation for change but when it happened they are now regretting.

“There are countries where there was agitation for change; when it happened, they regretted the change. Look at the country like Libya, Iraq Afghanistan, Somalia and others how they look very bad very bad bad bad bad,” she noted.

Meanwhile, Betty Kamya was responding to a question about age raised by Hon. Ssemujju Nganda the Federation for Democratic Change (FDC) spokesperson who was also part of the program.

Kamya challenged Ssemujju Nganda together with other opposition politicians to make their campaigns less about President Museveni and his age but rather on how they are going to transform the country.

“The Ssemujju group has reduced the conversation to individuals by going on and on with President Museveni’s age,” Kamya challenged.

In response, Ssemujju noted; “I agree we have to make the campaigns less about Museveni but ask Museveni to leave.”
