Kyadondo East Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine donates millions to the affected flood victims in Kasese.
The leader of the Kamwokya based political pressure group people power and Member of Parliament Kyadondo east Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine has donated 13.5m (thirteen million shillings) to the victims of floods that recently swept Kasese district leaving many households shocked.
Early this month river Nyamwamba burst its banks displacing more than 120,000 people from areas of Bulembia Kilembe division and Karusandara Sub County.
During the handing over of the cash donation to the woman MP of Kasese Hon. Winnie Kizza, Robert Kyagulanyi said that the donation had been contributed by the people power pressure group supporters of both within and those in the diaspora.
“We have managed to raise and contribute thirteen million and five hundred thousand shillings (13,500,000shs) to Hon. Winnie Kizza to assist our brothers and sisters who were affected by floods in Kasese district. This money was contributed by our comrades within and outside,” Robert Kyagulanyi said.
After a successful music show online, the leader, musician and Member of Parliament (MP) Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine said that he had received many requests from people asking him to pay for the show although it had ended.
Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine also thanked Ugandans who had responded to his call and contributed towards helping out the people of Kasese saying that’s the spirit all Ugandans should embrace all the time.
“I am appreciative to all of you who have responded to our call and made contributions to this noble cause of ours. To the people of Kasese we stand with you and pray for you,” Robert kyagulanyi posted at his Facebook page.
The donation was received by Winnie Kizza and promised to ensure that the money reaches its intended destinations in Kasese, Winnie Kizza however asked the government to come up with a lasting solution for the people of Kasese.
Kasese district has been hit by a new wave of floods that have left 5 people of the same family died in Bukonzo West Constituency along with the Uganda –DR Congo border yesterday morning.
The Rwenzori East police Spokesperson, Vincent Twesige said the incident happened on a Thursday morning. The dead included four females and 2 males.
President Museveni visited Kasese to see how impactful the floods have been and the president met with the local leaders of Kasese to discuss and find out the long-lasting solutions in Kasese.
