Mourns the Death of Political Analyst Anas Kaliisa

Bobi Wine has joined many other Ugandans to mourn the death of political analyst and Lecturer Sheikh Dr Abdu Anas Kaliisa.

Duly nominated presidential candidate, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine has joined many other Ugandans to mourn the death of political analyst cum Islamic Scholar and Lecturer Sheikh Dr Abdu Anas Kaliisa.

Anas Kaliisa breathed his last on the evening of Wednesday. According to reports from family members, Kariisa left office at Naguru on Wednesday and returned home to have a rest as was his routine but he collapsed dead at home.

Following the confirmation of the news, Bobi Wine among other prominent figures rushed to social media to mourn the death of a long time political analyst.

He extended his sympathies to the family of the deceased, the media fraternity and all Ugandans who are affected by this tragedy.

“The news of the passing of Sheikh Anas Kaliisa, renowned Muslim scholar and senior political analyst is very shocking and sad. I extend sympathies to his family, the media fraternity and all Ugandans who are affected by this tragedy. Inna Lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un,” Bobi Wine’s statement read.

The Kampala Lord Mayor, Erias Lukwago also issued a statement “Kitalo nnyo ekya mukadde waffe Sheikh Doctor ANAS KALIISA. Allah amusonyiwe byonna eby’amusobako amuwe ejjana. May his soul rest in eternal peace. Inna Lillahi wa inna illaihi Rajihuuna,” his statement read.

Meanwhile, the Next Media Chief Executive Officer, Kin Kariisa who was also shocked about the news said that the deceased has been a father figure to him.

“It is with great pain that I share with you that my elder brother, and Chairman of Salam Charity Foundation, Dr. A. A. Kaliisa, has died this evening. Dr. Kaliisa has been more than just my brother. He raised me and has been a father figure to me. May God rest his soul in eternal peace,” Kin’s noted.

Who is Anas Kaliisa?

Sheikh Anas Kaliisa was the elder brother to Next Media service owner Kim Kariisa.

Dr Kaliisa was a renowned Muslim scholar and senior political analyst on NBS Television. He is the former Director of the Institute of Research and Training in Uganda.

He was a political analyst on Middle East affairs, and one of the 21 founders and the Managing Director House of Zakat and Waqf Uganda.

As a staunch Muslim, Dr Kaliisa was also the Secretary of the Eminent Council of Sheikhs of Uganda and Chairman Muslim Jurists Uganda.
