President Yoweri Museveni has appointed Hajat Sharifah Buzeki as the new Executive Director of Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), bringing fresh leadership to the city’s management. Alongside her, Benon Kigenyi has been named Deputy Executive Director.

Haji Faruk Kirunda, the Deputy Presidential Spokesperson, confirmed the news and said their appointments have been forwarded to Public Service for formal approval. Once everything is finalized, the Head of Public Service will officially confirm their roles.

”It’s true that His Excellency @KagutaMuseveni has appointed a new Executive Director of @KCCAUG in the names of Hajat Sharifah Buzeki, and Mr. Benon Kigenyi as her Deputy. Their names have been forwarded to Public Service for formalisation. When the process is completed, the Head Public Service/Secretary to Cabinet will formally confirm the appointments. Congratulations to Hajat Buzeki and Mr. Kigenyi for catching the eye of the Appointing Authority.,” Kirunda shared, expressing optimism about the new leadership.

Buzeki takes over from Frank Rusa, who had been acting as Executive Director after Dorothy Kisaka was dismissed. With 13 years of experience in human resource management, she brings a strong professional background to her new role. Before this, she served as Commissioner for Human Resource Management in the Ministry of Public Service.

Her academic qualifications include a Master’s in Public Administration and Management, a Post-Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management, and a Bachelor’s in Social Sciences, all earned at the Islamic University in Uganda.

As the new Executive Director, Buzeki will oversee KCCA’s operations and ensure smooth service delivery to Kampala residents. It’s a big role, but with her experience, many are hopeful she’s up to the task.
