KCCA’s Mike Mutebi defends Nigeria forward Odumegwu after 1 – 1 draw with URA

KCCA coach Mike Mutebi remains confident in Nigeria forward Ogbuono Odumegwu despite his out of touch form.

Despite struggling to pick up a point against Uganda Revenue Authority Football Club (URA FC) yesterday, Coach Mike Mutebi is confident his Nigerian forward Ogbuono Odumegwu will discover a scoring touch.

Speaking after his side’s one-all draw with URA, Mike Mutebi said that Odumegwu is a good player who only needs time to adapt.

“He is a good player who still needs time to adapt to our approach. I still have the confidence he will be an important player,” Mutebi said after a 1-1 draw with URA yesterday.

Having played in almost all Kampala Capital City Authority’s games this season including Tooro United FC, Bright Stars FC, BUL FC, Maroons FC, Police FC, Express FC, Vipers SC and URA FC the striker has only managed to score one goal.

However, coach Mutebi believes the striker who arrived before the start of the season started was not recruited to solve the club’s scoring problems.

“We did not bring him to solve our scoring problems immediately,” Mutebi concluded before adding that other players also have to score not putting the burden only on the strikers.

KCCA FC and URA FC played to a 1-1 all draw in a Startimes Uganda Premier League game played at the Startimes Stadium in Lugogo.

With only 8 minutes into the game, URA took an early lead through Ashraf Mandela whose shot deflected off KCCA’s John Revita into the back of the net.

KCCA had the chance to put the score level seven minutes later but Mustafa Kizza’s freekick on the edge box was well saved by URA’s goalie James Alitho.

12 minutes in the second half, youngster Allan Okello pulled the scores level with a half-volleyed ball that was enough to beat Alitho straight into the back of the house net.

KCCA nearly put the game to bed but Kizza’s effort hit the crossbar and was cleared out for a corner kick.

The final score saw KCCA FC move to fourth on the log with 23 points in 11 games and they next play Kyetume FC on Saturday 23rd November at Startimes Stadium, Lugogo.
