Robert Kyagulanyi said because of the terrible roads from Obongi to Adjumani via Moyo, we were not able to make it to Adjumani on time.
The National Unity Platform (NUP) party presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine Wednesday has blamed it on the bad roads that made him fail to arrive in Adjumani on time to conduct his campaign.
On Wednesday, Kyagulanyi was supposed to hold his campaign in three districts including Obongi, Moyo Adjumani. Despite holding successful rallies in the first two districts, Kyagulanyi arrived in Adjumani at around 8:00 pm.
In a statement he posted via his social media platforms, the NUP candidate said that the bad roads in the three districts made it hard for him to catch up with time.
Kyagulanyi, however, said that despite arriving late in Adjumani, thousands of determined youthful supporters were still standing by the roadsides to give them a warm welcome.
“Because of the terrible roads from Obongi to Adjumani via Moyo, we were not able to make it to Adjumani on time,” Kyagulanyi said.
“We arrived in Adjumani at 8pm but the town was still filled with tens of thousands of our youthful supporters who had vowed to welcome us at whatever time we arrive.”
Also, he expressed his dissatisfaction that he was unable to physically address such a committed group.
He said that his advanced team had also booked a radio program on one of the local radio stations for him to get the chance of addressing the locals of Adjumani but authorities still cancelled it at the last minute.
“I am sad that we did not get the opportunity to physically address the people and ask them to vote me into office as their next President, but I was consoled by the huge demonstration of love and support,” Kyagulanyi added.
“While our advance team had booked a radio program for us to be able to address the people of Adjumani scientifically, the authorities cancelled it at the last minute.”
He once again lashed out at the Police’s continued brutality towards him. He said he will never be demoralized by any forces of oppression.
“We are however not demoralized by the forces of oppression that are trying to fail us, we are sure that our people know the truth and all efforts aimed at making us weaker are only helping us to grow stronger.”
Meanwhile, he held his campaigns successfully in Obongi and Moyo districts amidst intimidation and threats by the Police. While in Obongi, he urged his supporters to come out and vote for him.
Kyagulanyi promised that in his governance, Obongi area will have no more dusty roads, health services and schools will also be up to standard.
“Amidst intimidation and threats by the Police, the people of Obongi have turned up and showed us love. Thank you Obongi. A new Uganda will have no more dusty roads in Obongi. Health services and up-to-standard schools too.”
