Mohammed Ssegirinya has said that he will only reveal his genuine academic documents once the court calls for them.

The newly elected Member of Parliament for Kawempe North, Mohammed Ssegirinya has said that he will only reveal his genuine academic documents once the court calls for them.

Ssegirinya who made the remarks in a video making rounds on different social media platforms rubbished claims that he is relied on fake academic documents to force a breakthrough to Parliament.

He said that those accusing him of possessing fake papers do not have valid evidence. He said they are doing so in a bid to entice him to reveal his true documents but assured that he won’t accept to fall into their trap.

“I am very clever, I have my papers and would have put them out already, but I know those accusing me have no evidence so I am waiting for them to show their evidence, then I will also reveal mine,” Ssegirinya said.

He added: “They want me to put out my papers then they use them against me. I am very alert, and will not fall for their game. They have done so many things but have failed because I am not easily cowed.”

Last week, the Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB) released a statement questioning the credibility of the academic documents which were submitted by councillor Ssegirinya ahead of the January general elections.

In a statement, the Examinations body said that Ssegirinya submitted documents that belong to Sarah Nampiima at O-level while at A-level, he submitted documents that belong to Maureen Nabadda.

“We have checked in our records and our findings are as follows; Candidate U005/054(2017) is Nampiima Sarah who sat at Mengo secondary school, not Ssegirinya Richard sitting at Pimbas secondary school,” Peter Anywar said in a letter on behalf of the UNEB executive secretary, Dan Odongo.

“The candidate U005/754 is Nabadda Maureen who sat at Mengo Secondary school not Ssegirinya Richard at Pimbas secondary school,” Any war’s letter added.

Ssegirinya through his lawyers, Alaka and company advocate, however, insist that their client used the name Ssegirinya Richard while sitting for his UNEB but after converting to Islam he changed his Ssegirinya Mohammed, a name that everyone is now familiar with.
