President Museveni trek is a wastage of tax payer’s money says FDC party spokesperson Ssemujju Nganda
The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party spokesperson Ssemujju Nganda has blamed President Yoweri Museveni for wasting taxpayers money following the ongoing great trek walk.
Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda who was addressing the media yesterday at the party headquarters stated that the President is irresponsibly using the country’s money on useless walks in trying to blindfold Ugandans and pick up support before the next elections.
According to Ssemujju, many locals have to abandon their works and concentrate on Museveni whenever he holds such walks and in the process, a lot of money is spent on trying to accommodate the cheerers.
“A lot of money is spent on those who are cheering him up, you have seen them, they have abandon work, many of them are there wasting time,” Ssemujju said.

Besides, Ssemujju also implied that Museveni does not only waste money on known walks but also unknown walks behind closed doors like paying security on a daily to guard him as he does his physical exercises.
“We would be spending, for example, Shs 2.4 billion of this borrowed money, everyday Museveni undertakes physical exercises.this is the money spent to maintain people who are securing him and pay allowances of all manners of staff,” Ssemujju stated before calling upon all opposit

Museveni began a six-day march through the jungle on Saturday to retrace the steps of his guerrilla forces when they seized power three decades ago.

Being one of Africa’s longest-ruling leaders, Museveni seized power in 1986 after taking part in rebellions to end the rule of Idi Amin and Milton Obote and is expected to seek a sixth term in office in elections due in 2021.
The walk is set to be a 120-mile (195-kilometre) walk from Galamba, north of Kampala, to Birembo, south of the capital where his rebel army faced one of its toughest battles in the fight to overthrow Obote.
The walk comes only a month after the president led an anti-corruption walk through Kampala.
Meanwhile, Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu criticised the walk arguing that it is a wasteful venture by Museveni’s government to try and boost his dwindling support among Ugandans
“My advice is rather than spending taxpayers’ money on such trips, Museveni should know time is up for him to leave power. Time for hoodwinking peasants has passed him. The peasants and everyone in Uganda are demanding change and no less,” Kyagulanyi implied.
