Faith Alupo born on 9 October 1983 has been serving as a Member of Parliament, representing the Pallisa District. 

Information coming in from reliable sources indicates that the Pallisa District Member of Parliament, Faith Alupo succumbed to the deadly coronavirus.

Faith Alupo was reported to have died on Tuesday morning at Mulago National Referral hospital where she was receiving treatment. Although the cause of her death is still unknown, sources close told Flash Uganda Media that the deceased had symptoms linking to Covid-19.

However, according to a statement from the Director of Communications at Parliament, Ms Hellen Kaweesi the cause of the MPs’ death is unknown but they will provide all information to the general public after a postmortem report from the hospital.

“What we are aware of now is that we have lost a Member of Parliament. She died last evening, a statement will be taken out as soon as we have all the facts,” Ms Hellen stated.

Faith Alupo born on 9 October 1983 has been serving as a Member of Parliament, representing the Pallisa District. 

She was elected to that position in June 2018 after the former Forum for Democratic Change’s (FDC) Woman MP Candidate for Pallisa, Catherine Achola was disqualified by the Electoral Commission from the race on grounds that the names she had used for nomination do not tally with those on her academic qualification.

Alupo began her first job as a field worker at the Office of Probation found in Makindye Division between 2007- 2008. Between the years 2008 to 2009, she worked as the field interviewer at the Uganda Bureau of Statistics. 

In 2010 up to 2011, Alupo also worked at the Sub-County level as the Election Officer at Electoral Commission, Pallisa before serving as the Pallisa district MP between the years 2018 to 2020. Alupo however, had lost her party seat in the recently concluded NRM primaries to the opponent, Kevin Kaala Ojinga.

In case reports linking her death to the Covid-19 come out true then it means she joins the list of 56 other Ugandans who have since succumbed to the deadly coronavirus.

The Ministry of Health on Monday confirmed 179 new Covid-19 cases from tests done on 13 September 2020 pushing the total number of confirmed cases in Uganda to 4,978. As of today, a total of 2,317 people have since recovered from the virus.
