Roads Blocked During Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s Birthday
According to SP Kauma Nsereko Rogers, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Traffic Commander, the Jinja road traffic flow will be affected.

On Friday, the Ugandan police announced that several roads along Jinja road in Kampala would be shut down on Saturday 23 April to facilitate smooth preparations for Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s birthday celebrations.

Police Friday announced that several roads along Jinja road in Kampala will be blocked off on Saturday 23, April to allow for the smooth preparations of Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s birthday party celebrations.

Addressing journalists in Kampala, SP Kauma Nsereko Rogers the Kampala Metropolitan Police Traffic Commander said traffic flow along Jinja road will be affected.

“Traffic flow towards Jinja Road is going to be diverted right at Wampewo Roundabout to Old Portbell Road. Traffic flow from the Jinja side to the City Centre will remain normal, the commander said.

SP Nsereko said the right turn along the Lugogo road will only be for those making their way to the function with others advised to proceed to Wampewo round about.

He noted that entry to the Cricket Oval Grounds will be through the main vehicular entrance along Hesketh Bell Road and for the time of the celebrations, the Hesketh Bell will be one way.

“The right turn will be for those going to the function, the rest are to proceed to Wampewo Roundabout and find their destinations as will be guided by traffic police,” Nsereko noted.

In addition, he said vehicles will not be allowed entry into the venue. He said they will be allocated parking space including at the Kololo Ceremonial Grounds, City High School, Forest Mall and Game Parking spaces.

“Guests will be dropped off at the entrance and the vehicles will be proceeding to the different parking spaces that have been allocated. There is also parking at KCCA Grounds Shoprite road where Prophet Mbonye usually holds his crusades,” Nsereko added.

He further warned revellers against parking along the road sides saying that any cars found abandoned will be towed to the nearest police station at the owners’ cost and inconvenience.

SP Nsereko however, raised that many activities have been scheduled to take place on Saturday starting with a marathon early in the morning.

“Many activities are scheduled to take place in and around Kampala which will begin with a marathon early in the morning from Kololo Ceremonial Grounds via Elgon Terrace – Accacia Avenue – Upper Kololo Terrace – Lugogo Bypass Kati Kati Junction – Kiira Road – Mulago Round About – Yusuf Lule Road – Fairway Hotel Traffic Lights – Accacia Avenue – Lower Kololo Terrace – Wampewo Avenue – Kololo Ceremonial Grounds,” SP Nsereko said.
