Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine insists that Osobola concert will take place despite police saying no to it
Kyadondo East Member of Parliament, Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine has called on his fans to come an attend his Osobola Concert slated for October 9 at One Love Beach, Busaabala.
Bobi wine who stressed that the concert will be there despite not getting feedback from the police indicated that he has done all that is required of him in ensuring the authorities are made aware of the event.
The People Power initiator made the remarks at a presser in Kamwokya assuring his fans that the police’s silence means a go ahead with the concert.
“We are interpreting the silence from the police as a green light,” Bobi Wine said before adding that he will personally walk to the police headquarters before the end of today to seek for final consent.
However, the police spokesperson, Fred Enanga told journalists that they are yet to receive any official communication from the territorial commanders where the concert will be held.
He said the commanders are tasked to visit the scene and see whether it complies with the set minimum security standards such as fire extinguisher, body scanners.
Enanga implied, adding that without official confirmations from their visiting commanders then the show will not go on.
This is not the first time the police has said no to the prominent singer’s shows. Last year, Bobi Wine was also stopped from holding his Kyarenga Concert from Mandela National Stadium where it had been initially scheduled for the 20th of October 2018.
This did not go well as planned as the concert was cancelled a week later by the stadium management indicating that the venue had been booked on that specific date for a wedding ceremony that also never happened.
A few days later, Namboole assured him a venue for his show on the 9th of November 2018 under very strict conditions but the contract was later dismissed by the stadium management again.
This was after a request tabled by the Football Association of Uganda (FUFA) in regards to how the stadium’s condition will be towards the forthcoming AFCON 2019 last qualifying home match for the Uganda Cranes against Cape Verde on the 17th of November, that year.
Bobi Wine and his team then decided to move the Kyarenga concert from Namboole to One Love Beach Busabala insisting that the concerned parties were forced to find means of stopping him from hosting his show.
His recent show that was scheduled to take place during the Easter Holiday at his One Love Beach in Busabala was also cancelled earlier this year.
Police implied that the organisers failed to meet public safety and security standards and that no planned concerts are supposed to be carried out in unsecured environments.
