NRM is not loyal, they bribe musicians to support them, says Jose Chameleone
Singer Joseph Mayanja commonly known by his stage name Jose Chameleone has advised all musicians deemed National Resistance Movement (NRM) supporters to be careful while working for the party because they will not value their efforts in the end.
Chameleone who was appearing on NBS TV’s UNCUT on Tuesday 04th February implied that NRM is not trustworthy as a party but they just blackmail artists and other influential individuals in the country using their money because they hold power.
“NRM is not loyal, they don’t have truth and they are lying to them (artistes). Why should they buy someone’s love with money? Someone has to love you naturally without money,” Chameleone said.

Formerly, Chameleone was one of the staunch supporters of the NRM party. He was also part of the group of artists who sang the Tubonga Nawe campaign song for President Yoweri Museveni ahead of the 2016 presidential elections.
Earlier last year, the musician surprised his fans after confirming that his connection with the NRM party was no more. Chameleone who also declared his intention to stand for Kampala Lord Mayor position in the upcoming 2021 elections has since then been on the opposition side.
Chameleone who recently also declared his affiliation to the Democratic Party (DP), said then that he was never a supporter of NRM but he was just there to work and earn a living as many other Ugandans do including those who offer catering services to the party.
‘’I want to assure you that I have never been an NRM supporter. But I only worked for NRM the same way others went there to decorate or print T-shirts or those offering catering services,’’ Chameleone stated in 2019.

In response to the question of whether Uganda is a democratic country, the ‘Wale Wale’ hitmaker implied that every citizen is entitled to his or her right on who to support but he warned that NRM is not a party anyone should trust because they are not loyal.
“Everyone is free to support whoever they want. If they want NRM, let them go,’’ Jose Chameleone stated before adding that it is a shame for many artists deemed NRM supporters to go about fighting and demanding for money and few cows from President Museveni.

He further reconfirmed his decision to run for Mayorship in the upcoming elections adding that the current post holder Erias Lukwago has done nothing to help drive youths from poverty.
“We are tired of people who talk a lot without making any impact. We elect them and they cry with us. We need to change that,” Chameleone explained his reason for desiring to stand in 2021 elections.
