President Museveni recalls Arua scenes, says Bobi Wine, Zaake tried to assault soldiers with punches and they punched them back.

In a statement released Thursday, President Museveni once again spoke about the political chaos that happened way back in 2018 in Arua involving the Kyadondo East Legislator, Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine and the Mityana MP, Zaake.

In 2018, shocking scenes arose in Arua including the murder of Bobi Wine’s driver, Yasin Kawuma

Sources then alleged that police aimed at the group that was siding with the now area MP Kasiano Wadri claiming that they had attacked the convoy of President Museveni who had also flown to the area to campaign for the NRM party flag bearer, Nusura Tiperu.

However, according to the President’s report, the group of supporters from the opposition parties stoned at his vehicle including attacking NRM supporters who were coming to his rally.

The President explains that the group had also driven a road grader all the way from Kampala to block NRM vehicles from accessing Arua which prompted his soldiers to intervene.

“In Arua, they stoned my vehicle and attacked NRM supporters who were coming from my rally. They had even driven a road grader (tinga tinga) all the way from Kampala, I think, to use in ramming our vehicles (kutomera),’’ the President said adding that the SFC soldiers only returned to search for the ring leaders after they had dropped him to the helicopter.

‘’The SFC soldiers in a disciplined way delivered me to the helicopter first and went looking for the ring-leaders – Bobi Wine, Zaake and others.“

On the issue of the his police beating up Bobi Wine and Zaake, the President explained that the two tried to assault the Special Forces Command soldiers (SFC) with village punches and they were beaten back in return.

He further rubbishes claims of the soldiers also aiming guns at the two legislators insisting that they only arrested them from their hotel rooms.

‘’These wonderful gentlemen tried to assault our soldiers with punches. The soldiers punched them back until they subdued them. It is very impressive that the soldiers never used guns against Bobi Wine and Zaake in the hotel rooms where they were making a fool of themselves trying to box soldiers as if they were boxing village thieves,” Museveni explained.

Museveni in addition, said that Zaake just like his colleague the Kyadondo East Legislator have always tried to be critic of his NRM government regarding it as a regime that that does not help its people something he says is false.

“We have defeated them and we shall unearth them. The NRM Government, which Zaake calls “the regime”, is the enemy of the people because it has closed people’s businesses.

According to Zaake, by the Government suspending economic activities that were going to result in mass deaths as has happened in other countries, it became the enemy of the people.”
