DJ Shiru is a Ugandan disc jockey (DJ) commonly known as 256 spin doctor who is among the top three celebrated DJs in Uganda and East Africa.
Shiru started deejaying at the age of 17 through his brother DJ Rota who was Uganda’s popular DJ in the early 2000s and he was the same person behind the making Red Banton. Shiru made his debut on the pearl of Africa music awards that were held annually in Uganda.
Shiru is the founder/ CEO of Shirumatic pro, a promotions company he started which deals in most of his branding and promotions. Shiru has hosted several international shows which include R. Kelly, Sean Kingston, Sean Paul, UB 40 and many more shows.
He also pursues a radio career and he started at Dembe FM then joined Bukedde radio and currently, he is at Record radio hosting a show known as the Dance floor.
Shiru is also the official DJ of an evening TV show called Akayisanyo on Bukedde TV.
Early life and education
DJ Shiru birth name Kiberu Bashir was born in Masaka Nyendo and he grew up in the city of Nyendo. Bashir is a brother to the famous DJ Rota who was popular in the early 2000s and he inspired Shiru to join the deejaying industry.
Shiru started his education journey at Buwaala primary school which was a government school and studying was free.
He didn’t get a chance to go far with his secondary education because of financial reasons and at the age of 16, he entered Kampala and joined his brother Rota who was the best DJ at the time in Kampala.
Shiru says that while growing up he wanted to be a footballer and he was so much obsessed with soccer but when this dream failed to materialize he turned to his second option and this was deejaying.
DJ Career
Shiru started his DJ career at the age of 17 following his brother known as DJ Rota who was Kampala’s best DJ at the time. Rota was the best DJ in Kampala at the time and when he went to Masaka he came back with his young brother Shiru who loved mixing music but never knew where to start from.
Shiru made his name in 2006 after debuting on the famous Pearl of Africa music awards and this made him be rated among the top DJs in Uganda.
He went on to host several international artists in Uganda which include; Sean Paul, Sean Kingston, R.Kelly, UB40, Demarco, Konshens, Elephant Man, Beenie Man, Busy Signal, Kevin Little, Akon, Wyclef Jean, Busy Signal, Chaka Chaka, Chico Chimola, Davido Sisqo, P square, Fuse ODG, Patoranking, Neyo, Kizz Daniel, Alaine, Diamond Platnumz.
Kampala’s spin Doctor has also worked with various local artists such as Radio and Weasel, Bebe Cool, Chameleone, Irene Ntale, Aidan quin, Sheeba, Peter miles, Cindy, Remah, Ray S, Juliana Kanyomozi, Vinka, Jowy Landa and many more.

In 2008 Shiru joined Dembe FM and he started hosting a Saturday show known as Dance party which did for a couple of years together with Mc Percy and when Bukedde TV started in 2009 he joined as an official DJ and a few months later he joined Bukedde radio.
Shiru also runs a record label known as Shirmatic pro where he records music, signs musicians and also through this label he manages to do his branding.
In 2009 Shiru collaborated with Mowzey Radio and Weasel and they released their first DJ song called Mr DJ but he later fell out with the two boys and they did another version of the song without Shiru but with Benon.
He also hosts several annual events including the Mega Shirumatic experience and the East African Deejays.
In 2009 his close friend Chameleon released a song called Vumilia but failed to make it to the charts because of its production so Shiru remixed the song and in weeks the Vumilia Rmx had become East Africa’s number one song.

Relationship
DJ Shiru is in a relationship with someone but does not want to expose her in the limelight. Shiru also has 3 children making him a responsible man.
Controversies
In 2009 Shiru fell out with the Mowzey Radio and Weasel over the Mr DJ song. They were both claiming the rights of the song which made Radio and Weasel drop the original song they had made with Shiru and they remixed it Benon of Swangz and also dropped all artistes that were in the original song including Shiru himself.
It has been said that Shiru is a man of ladies and he dates most of the female artists he signs under Shirumatic pro but shiru denies all the allegations.
