Robinah Nabbanja, Uganda’s prime minister, said that she has no time to answer her doubters but is prepared to use action even if they persist.

Uganda’s Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja on Sunday said she has no time to respond to her doubters but she is rather ready to use actions to prove them wrong.

Nabbanja made the remarks while appearing on NBS TV’s Eagle programme on Sunday. She was responding to claims by the Kampala Central legislator Muhammad Nsereko of not knowing her.

She said a good leader is not supposed to be known by people before he or she is chosen to serve. Nabbanja raised that she is a good lobbyist who has done so much for her constituents.

“In Kakumiro where I come from, we now have water and electricity. That is important. There are some MPs who concentrate on insulting government instead of lobbying for their people,” Nabbanja told her critics.

“I naturally know how to lobby and advocate. I will not decelerate, I am playing all 90 minutes. We are looking at removing our people from working for food only, putting flyovers in Kampala, and working on roads as far as Karamoja.”

She, however, revealed that she never anticipated ever becoming a Prime Minister. Nabbanja revealed that over the years she has done so many petty jobs including selling groundnuts but she never stopped believing that one-day things could change.

“I never anticipated that I would be Prime Minister. This is proof that anything can happen. I first put on shoes in senior three. I have done many petty jobs including selling binyeebwa (g.nuts),” Nabbanja said.

“Before the President selects you, he scrutinizes you. All the people selected will undergo training. I have hope they will do well. The good bit is that they are young.”

In addition, she mentioned that, unlike many other individuals who employ servants, she loves to do most of her work by herself but now because of the new office demands, she is left with no choice.

“I am an hands-on person who loves to do her shopping and cooking but now it is impossible. I wake up at 5:30 am, speak on a radio talk show, do some gyming and prepare for office.”

“I have realized I have a lot of work to do in the few weeks I assumed office. I like to exercise but I have not had the time to do it. I had got a proper gym instructor to help me since I don’t have time,” she added saying that she is determined to seek advice from her predecessors and other people who have held top positions.

“Calmness and humility are what I learn from former Prime Minister Rugunda. I want to visit Amama Mbabazi. I am also looking for Dr. Kizza Besigye. Wisdom is wealth. I am told he has been teaching about COVID-19.”
