Uganda Cranes is set to face Senegal on Friday, 5th July in the first knockout stage of the 2019 Total Africa Cup of Nations tournament.
This draw was confirmed after the completion of group C matches yesterday that saw Senegal finish second with three points behind first-placed Algeria.
It will be the fourth encounter between Uganda Cranes and Senegal with the latter holding a slightly better record in their last three matches after narrowly beating the former by a goal to nil in 2013.
The other two fixtures ended in a draw, 1-1 in 2012 while that of 2013, neither team found the back of the net.
Proving apt at scoring in at least two of their three group games for either team, it will be an interesting game to watch.
The match will be played at the Cairo International Stadium, a venue that has also hosted all Uganda’s group A matches.
This, together with their recent form will create a perfect impetus for Uganda going into this do or die encounter.
Meanwhile, Uganda Cranes will be hoping for Emmanuel Okwi to be in his best form. He is already on two goals in this campaign, more than any Ugandan.
Appropriately, the western African based side will look to Sadio Mane who is also their top scorer in this campaign to foster their attack.
