Bobi Wine has lashed out at tribalistic Ugandans who always bring up issues of tribes in the country’s development saying bad roads will not ask which tribe you are before they kill you in an accident
The National Unity Platform (NUP) party presidential flag bearer, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine has lashed out at Ugandans who always bring up issues of tribes in the country’s development.
Kyagulanyi was addressing the nation in an online address on Sunday. He said that issues to do with the country should not be based on a certain group of the population.
“Bad roads will not ask which tribe you are before they kill you in an accident. This is not about a certain section of the population, we are all in danger until non of us is in danger. We can only lead the charge but every one has a role to play. This is a protest change,” he said.
Kyagulanyi was addressing the nation ahead of the 2021 presidential elections. He said that Uganda’s problem is not on the citizens but it is on the incumbent Yoweri Museveni who wants to overstay in power.
The NUP boss who described President Museveni as a coward said that this is evident because the police have on notable occasions been blocking him from holding campaigns in some parts of the country.
“To president Museveni and his hangers on, you’ve spoken the way I am speaking in the past only that you don’t want to be reminded of your words. All we are saying is that be a man of your words. Keep your word,” Bobi Wine said.
“You said that the problem of Africa in general and Uganda in particular, is not the people, but leaders who want to overstay in power. You one time said that a fundamental change had come to Uganda,” he reminded.
Kyagulanyi added that the ongoing situation in the country is enough evidence to prove that Museveni is working contrary to his words.
He noted that if Museveni is democratic like he claims to be then he should let democracy prevail in the ongoing elections and not block any opposition candidates from holding rallies.
“But here we are, (almost) 40 years later, you are killing our mothers, you are killing our fathers and the population which should be your grandchildren, blood is flowing on the streets,” he added.
“Respect the words in that you said and those in your books. You said you are fighting to restore democracy, let democracy prevail. Respect fair play.”
