While campaigning in Busoga region, Bobi Wine urged them to stick around at particular polling stations after casting their votes.

The National Unity Platform (NUP) party flag bearer Kyagulanyi Ssentamu Robert alias Bobi Wine has urged Ugandans to stick around at the polling stations after casting their votes ahead of the 2021 elections.

Kyagulanyi made the remarks on Monday during his campaign journey in the Busoga sub-region in Mayuge amidst teargas and live bullets before heading to Iganga.

He called on the Basoga to vote for him in the coming 2021 presidential elections to restore their lost hope. Bobi Wine said that Busoga was a big industrial area not only in Uganda but in East Africa as a whole.

“Busoga used to be the biggest industrial area, not just in Uganda but also in East Africa,” Kyagulanyi said.

“By the time (President) Museveni came to power, my father was a free man but he died as a slave. Many of your parents were free but most of them have now lost hope, let’s restore their hope by voting out Museveni.”

Also, he said that Busoga as a region has grown sugarcanes over the years but the government has taken over control of their produce.

He indicated that this will all change if he becomes the next President. Kyagulanyi said that Busoga will be for the Basoga and the area people will have control over the price of their sugar canes.

“Busoga has grown sugarcane which they don’t have control over. When I become president, Busoga will be for the Basoga and the people will have control over the price of their sugar canes.”

Kyagulanyi however, urged them to stick around at particular polling stations after casting their votes ahead of the 2021 elections. He said that the NRM has over the years utilised the opportunity after everyone has left the polling station to rig elections.

“After voting for us, do not leave until counting is done. There is no law that restrains from staying around to guard your vote.”

Meanwhile, this comes at a time when the police yet again fired teargas to disperse supporters of National unity platform (NUP) who had turned up for Kyagulanyi’s campaign tour in areas of Busoga region.

Tear gas rocked Mayuge district after NUP supporters forced their way on to the roads to see off their presidential candidate who was heading to areas of Bugiri and Iganga where he was supposed to hold related rallies.
