The incumbent President Yoweri Museveni said Monday that the ruling NRM party has done more than enough to deserve more years of governance.

Museveni made the remarks while addressing the NRM leaders in Acholi sub-region in Gulu city on Monday. He said that the party has scored good achievements in all its years of governance.

Museveni who was first to question why some people continue to say that the party has done nothing said that it is because of NRM that many sectors across the country are now scoring good results.

“NRM has done its work well. Talk about it proudly. We had shortages of sugar, soap, beer, sodas, cement and all other essential goods,” Museveni said.

“Today we are talking of surplus of all those and our problem is marketing them. How can you say NRM has done nothing when shops are full of products?(manufactured here).”

Also, the NRM party presidential flag bearer cited an example of South Sudan who has in recent years relied more on produce from Uganda than from other neighbouring countries including Kenya.

He said that this is enough evidence to any voter’s eyes that Uganda has been able to recover and grow because of the thinking of NRM.

“To know NRM has done well, look at when South Sudan became independent before they started fighting. Juba was full of Ugandans and Ugandan goods. In fact, a senior South Sudan person told me Ugandan products had dominated their market more than Kenyan goods.”

“This shows NRM has scored good achievements. Uganda has been able to recover and grow because of the thinking of NRM,” Museveni added.

He, however, cited some aspects of corruption and embezzlement of funds that have made some Ugandans more so the youths to portray the party as one that doesn’t care for its citizens.

“However, you should find out what happens to money that comes here. Youth MPs, MPs for the disabled, women and workers MPs are your delegates who need to keep an eye on the money. You should demand they dont allow money eaten on the way.”

Meanwhile, due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, President Museveni is conducting his campaigns scientifically. This way, Museveni meets only a selected group of leaders per district who later deliver his message to the locals.

He explains that this has been done to mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 that might arise from the mass rallies and gatherings.
