Chameleone who was also a strong candidate for the position said Lukwago’s win as Lord Mayor for Kampala was well deserving.
The incumbent Salongo Erias Lukwago (FDC) was Thursday re-elected as Lord Mayor for Kampala district after polling 194,592 totalling to 65% of the total vote.
From a total of 295,592 votes that were cast, FDC’s Lukwago was declared the winner beating NRM’s Daniel Kazibwe alias Ragga Dee who got 23,388 votes while NUP’s Nabilah Naggayi Sempala managed only 6,082 votes.
Lukwago who rushed to social media to express his joy thanked Ugandans more so his supporters yet again for displaying strong faith in him.
”What a historic moment!. Praise be to the Almighty. THANK YOU KAMPALA! The Statement is unequivocally loud and clear: OMULOODI WAALI. Our love is etched in stone. Asante Sana. Mungu awabarik,” Lukwago posted.
His joy was however shared by many other Ugandans including Joseph Mayanja alias Jose Chameleone who congratulate Lukwago on his win. Chameleone who was also a strong candidate for the position said that the incumbent’s win was well deserving.
He said that the outcomes of the election were fair but thanked the people of Kampala for the strong love they accorded to him during the campaigns and the proceedings of the elections.
”I would like to take this opportunity to appreciate the people KAMPALA constituency for the support you accorded me during the election for the post of Lord MAYOR Kampala Capital City,” Jose Chameleone tweeted.
”I accept that the results as declared are a fair reflection of the outcome of the contest. I call upon the people to stand as one. I also thank all the contestants in the race for putting up a spirited contest. I congratulate SALONGO ERIAS LUKWAGO for a well-deserved win,” he added before promising that he will continue serving the nation in all angles including music, a profession he has held for over 20 years.
”I shall continue as always to serve this nation to the best of my capacity. MORE music More loves More life.”
He is however not the only one, the former Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party presidential candidate Col. Dr Kizza Besigye also sent out his heartfelt message to Lukwago urging him to continue with the struggle to free Uganda.
”Hearty Congratulations OMULOODI @EriasLukwago_! The struggle continues and, soon, Uganda will be free,” Besigye tweeted.
”Congratulations Erias Lukwago on retaining your seat as Mayor of Kampala! #OmuloodiWaali,” Winnie Byanyima, the Executive Director of UNAIDS also sent out her tweet.
