2019/2020 Startimes Uganda Premier League fixture: Season starts with Kyetume Football Club hosting Sports Club Villa at Namboole stadium
The Uganda Premier League secretariat has officially released fixtures for the 2019/2020 Startimes Uganda Premier League season in a press conference held at Namboole stadium.
With the league set to kick start on 28th August, two weeks are left to begin the season something that is a great opportunity for clubs to prepare for their season in advance.
The new league season will see newly promoted Kyetume Fc take on 16-time league Champions, SC Villa on Thursday 29th August in a live night game at Nelson Mandela Stadium at 8:00 pm.
On the 30th, four UPL matches will be played with URA Fc taking on Maroons Fc at Namboole Stadium,
Bright Stars will also play against Vipers SC at Wankulukuku Stadium and Bul Fc will host Express Fc at
Njeru Stadium while Onduparaka FC who are also set to host their home games at Luzira Prisons Ground will go head to head with Police Fc.
The last three games will be played on Saturday 31st, August with Tooro United taking on Busoga United at Wankulukuku Stadium and Mbarara City will play with Proline FC at Luzira Prisons Ground.
While defending Champions KCCA FC will open their title defence against new league entrants, Wakiso Giants FC as they host them at StarTimes stadium.
Meanwhile, the league broadcasters StarTime in Conjunction with Sanyuka TV Uganda have a target of relaying 100 live games the whole season compared to the 75 games they managed last season.
33 games are expected to be broadcasted live including seven games under floodlights in the first round of the league.
Also, the first round of the league is expected to end on 17th November 2019 to give a humble time for the host of Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup later in the year.
Appropriately, FUFA explained that the fixture announcement was delayed due to the failure for many participating clubs home grounds to meet CAF standards and FUFA had to intervene and allocate them provisional pitches to host games.
According to the league’s manager Paul Kabaikaramu, these fixtures are subject to change over the season.
KCCA FC were the champions of the 2018/ 2019 Startimes Uganda Premier League campaign.
