Kamuli Man Robbed of Shs 2M and Car Keys

In Kamuli District, Bukaga Zone, Southern Division, the Territorial Police is actively investigating another follow-home front-gate attack and robbery that occurred at 8 pm on July 5, 2022.

The Territorial Police in Kamuli is actively investigating another follow-home front-gate attack and robbery which occurred on the 5th July 2022 at 8 pm, in Bukaga zone, Southern Division, in Kamuli Municipality, Kamuli District.

According to Fred Enanga the police spokesperson, the victim is one Hajji Swale Mukembo. He was attacked by two thugs on a boda boda and robbed of money totalling Shs 2m and keys to both his shop and motor vehicle, a Harrier, UAV 809P.

Enanga however, raised Mukembo was not damaged because he reacted in time and handed over whatever he was holding at the time the thugs threatened him.

“A one Hajji Swale Mukembo, a prominent businessman, was attacked by two armed thugs on a bodaboda, who robbed him of cash Ugx 2m, keys to the shop and keys to his motor vehicle, a Toyota Harrier, UAV 809P, Black in colour. They immediately after escaped with their loot. The fortunate part of it, is that the victim was not injured.”

“He did the right thing and handed over the valuable items on him. The overriding consideration in dealing with a robbery is to reduce the possibility of injury,” Enanga said adding that this is the second incident in Kamuli in four months. 

The police spokesperson, however, called on the general public to take extra care when leaving and returning home. He said it has become a common trend for thieves to attack people on the way back home or while on walkways.

“We urge the public to take extra care when leaving and returning home. Always try to reduce the chance of being targeted by altering your routines, gate surveillance, maintain well-lit and visible entrance and where possible deployment of security guards,” he urged.

In addition, he said a team from the Flying Squad Unit has been dispatched to the area where they suspect the victim was robbed to effectively gather more evidence and also track down the suspects and ensure they are stressed to judgement before the law.
