The Kampala Central legislator Muhammad Nsereko has responded to the arrest of controversial blogger Fred Lumbuye saying that he is working for the National Unity Platform to belittle those in the ruling party.
Earlier this week, the news made rounds on different platforms of how Fred Lumbuye had been arrested in Turkey for reasons yet to be identified.
Notable sources indicated that he had gone to the Ugandan embassy in Turkey to renew his passport but the officials there seized his documents prompting him to appear physically but later arrested him.
The blogger/vlogger has for the past years been a strong critic of the NRM regime airing live videos of him giving his take on what is at stake and what he expects to happen to the regime in the next days.
Recently, he was also cited out for being behind the social media false rumours concerning President Museveni’s death.
Close sources from the government including the Minister of Foreign Affairs Okello Oryem now indicate that Lumbuye will be forcefully deported back to Uganda where he will be arraigned before the court in response to charges including spreading wrong propaganda.
However, while responding to the news about the bloggers’ arrest, MP Nsereko has said the government did a tremendous job by arresting Fred Lumbuye because he has been spreading wrong propaganda.
Nsereko in particular, pinpointed the recent videos of Lumbuye criticising the Kabaka of Buganda, the Nnabagereka and Katikkiro in addition to the Catholic Church concerning the death of the late Archbishop Cyprian Kizito.
“They were always silent when that bigot attacked us, attacked the Kabaka, insulted the Nnabagereka, the katikkiro and attacked the Catholic Church,” Nsereko said in a Facebook live video.
“We cannot keep quiet. You use propaganda. You have no right to call for the murder of other political players and when you are arrested, you pretend to say you’re a political activist,” he added lashing out at NUP leaders for siding with Lumbuye.

He said after all the wrong statements he uttered without clear proof, National Unity Platform (NUP) leaders still went on to sympathise with him and demand for his immediate release.
“When the blogger was raising baseless statements about other leaders in top positions, these NUP leaders did not come out to bail them but now that he was arrested they are quick to come out and defend.
You have now seen them panicking to fly to Turkey to rescue him. You have also seen them posting on their social media platforms.” Nsereko lashed out.
