Mugisha Muntu: I will stand for President in 2021

Currently at least Four leading opposition leaders like Kizza Besigye, Mugisha Muntu, Nobert Mao and People Power’s Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi wine have publicly announced their interest to contest in the next general election expected to happen in February 2021, however Maj. Gen. Mugisha believes that a divided opposition cannot oust or defeat Yoweri Museveni the next election.

Muntu says that an alliance among the political parties and leaders can put an end to Museveni’s 33 year old government.

Maj Gen Mugisha Muntu, the key mobiliser for the Alliance for National Transformation has confirmed that his party is in talks with other political players to forge an alliance so that to be able to win the biggest office.

Mugisha Muntu told a local news outlet that uniting energies and efforts by the opposition is one of the surest ways of defeating Museveni in 2021.

“We would like to create an environment of comfort amongst ourselves on how to relate with each other in unison or moments of disagreements” he said.

Mugisha Muntu also condemned the propaganda targeting individual players within the opposition as undermining the cause.

“It gives no merit to the struggle to treat with contempt the conduct of individual players or their efforts against the repressive regime” he remarked.

Muntu formerly the FDC party president recently established his own political party Alliance for New Formation and his team is in the process of restructuring and laying strategies to take over power.

It’s not yet clear whether the opposition will agree to front a single candidate against Museveni in the next presidential elections.
