Government has many duties to fulfil but citizens have only four duties, one of which is supporting the NRM, Museveni explained.
The National Resistance Movement (NRM) party presidential candidate Yoweri Museveni has urged Ugandans to continue supporting and trusting in the NRM government because it has ensured the mass developments in the country.
Museveni made the remarks on Wednesday while flagging off the reconstruction of the 86km Mityana-Mubende road and the upgrading of roads in Mityana municipality.
He said that developing a country is not an easy job but the NRM party has made it possible basing on the infrastructures such as roads that have been set up.
He explained that the government has tried to play many roles in advancing the country and all that is left is the citizens to also play theirs tremendously including rallying support towards the NRM party.
“Developing a country is not an easy job but the NRM has made it easy. Government has many duties to fulfill but citizens have only four duties, one of which is supporting the NRM,” Museveni explained.
“Your job is fighting poverty, keeping safe from HIV/AIDS, keeping away from alcoholism and the fourth job is supporting the NRM for all it has done for the country.”
Also, he said that every Ugandan should be supportive of the party because it has enabled peace in the 35 years it has ruled the country.
“This decadent lifestyle which some of the Ugandans like is not acceptable. Support the NRM because it has been able to stabilize Uganda. Many think the peace which we have enjoyed for 35 years is mere words but it is the reason they have a duty to support the NRM,” Museveni added.
Meanwhile, he officiated at the groundbreaking for the reconstruction of the 86Km Mityana—Mubende road and upgrading of Mityana town roads (14Kms).
This project that is fully funded by the government of Uganda is a vital link on the national road network and will contribute immensely to the economic growth of Mityana, Mubende and nearby districts.
On this, Museveni said that this is one of the main signs that the ruling party has over the years resolved many bottlenecks to ensure Uganda as a country progresses to greater heights not only in governance but also in terms of infrastructure developments.
“The NRM Party has stood the test of time. We have correctly diagnosed Uganda’s problems and prescribed the correct solutions. We have resolved many bottlenecks to Uganda’s progress and will continue to do so. It is why we are days away from victory,” Museveni assured.
“Commissioned the Isimba Public Bridge Project. This project comprises 2 bridges connected by Koova Island along the Victoria Nile, it is a great opportunity for the people of Kayunga and Kamuli Districts who can now connect from one end to another.”
