There are three Ugandan missions overseas, one in Washington, one in London, and one in Pretoria, which process and issue Ugandan passports.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs Plot 75 Jinja Road is where the main passport office is located. The RDC Building in Mbarara, the Regional Administration Block on Republic Street in Mbale, and Gulu each have additional passport issuance offices.
Additionally, there are Regional Immigration Offices that serve as Passport Application Collection Centers, where you can submit your application for a passport, have it processed, and then pick up your completed passport.
These include Lira, Jinja, Masaka, Fort Portal, Arua, Hoima, Masindi, and Gulu.
Applying for an Ordinary Ugandan Passport
For the purpose of travelling outside of Uganda, Ugandan citizens are issued passports. Online applications are submitted using the DCIC Passport Portal.
You will need to submit your National Identification Number (NIN), Letter of recommendation and National ID of the recommender, and supporting documentation for your profession as required.
The necessary documentation for children includes a certificate of birth, National IDs and passports of the parents, a letter of approval from one of the parents, and the High Court of Uganda’s adoption decree if the child has been adopted.

Applying for a Service Ugandan Passport
In Uganda, service passports are given to individuals such as members of parliament, chancellors and vice chancellors of government universities, directors of government agencies, permanent commissioners, the Archbishops of the Church of Uganda, Roman Catholic Church and Seventh Day Adventist Church, the Orthodox Church’s patriarch, the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council’s Mufti, and any other individual that the Minister of Internal Affairs deems appropriate.

Applying for a Diplomatic Ugandan Passport
The individuals eligible to receive diplomatic passports in Uganda include the First Family, the President, the Parliament’s Speaker and Deputy Speaker, government ministers and their spouses, the Chief Justice, the head of the Public Service, and chancellors of government universities.
Other individuals who receive diplomatic Ugandan passports include the chairpersons of permanent commissions, recognized traditional or cultural leaders, the governor and deputy Governor of the Bank of Uganda, judges of the Supreme Court, Court of Appeal, and the High Court, permanent secretaries, and foreign service personnel and their spouses as well as their children below eighteen years travelling with them overseas.

Uganda Passport Certification
For certification of your passport in Uganda, you will need to present your original Passport that is being certified, 3 coloured passport photocopies, and evidence of payment.
To apply for passport certification in Uganda, visit the URA portal, click on eServices, select Payment Registration under Other NTR, and then start the certification assessment process.
Provide three coloured copies of the original passport. Hand over the copies, receipts, and original passport to the passport office. The authorized personnel will let you know when to come back for your certified copies.

Ugandan Passport Renewal/Replacement
To apply for Passport Renewal/Replacement in Uganda, visit the Passport Portal. Accept the Disclaimer’s terms and conditions and respond to the security queries. Complete the application for a passport and print the Passport Application Payment Advice Form.

To renew your Ugandan passport, you will need your National Identification, your previous passport, letter of recommendation from a Ugandan citizen who is well-known in society and is aware of your citizenship.
A copy of the recommender’s national identification card must be provided.
If you alter your name, career, or marital status, you must attach the appropriate legal documentation to prove the change. Make sure to include a photocopy of your academic transcript or certificate if you have a profession or are changing it.
The cost is UGX 250,000, exclusive of bank fees, for replacing your passport and the express fee is an additional UGX 150,000, excluding bank fees.
Name Changes or Other Modifications on your Ugandan Passport
Give the passport control officer a formal justification for the name change. Include supporting documents, such as a marriage certificate, deed poll, etc.
The cost is UGX 250,000, exclusive of bank fees, for replacing your passport. The express fee is an additional UGX 150,000, excluding bank fees.
Replacing a Damaged or Lost Ugandan Passport
To replace a lost or damaged passport in Uganda, visit the Passport Portal and accept the Disclaimer’s terms and conditions. Respond to the basic security queries and complete the application for the replacement of your lost or damaged passport.
Print the Passport Application Payment Advice Form and pay for the passport replacement at the chosen bank with a suitable payment method. Book an appointment using the link for planned appointments on the home page for a time that works for you.

You will have to explain the circumstances surrounding the loss of the passport in a written letter to the passport control officer. Complete the Statutory Declaration of Lost Passport or Affidavit in Lieu.
Confirm that the passport loss has been recognized by the police of Uganda.
You will be required to make a payment of a fine of 100,000 UGX for a lost passport.
The express fee is an additional UGX 150,000, excluding bank fees. If a duplicate of the missing passport is available, include it.
