Coach Golola praised as Vipers go 13 games undefeated in StarTimes Uganda Premier League
League leaders Vipers Sports Club have extended their unbeaten run following a Tuesday evening narrow win over league opponents Uganda Revenue Authority Football Club (URA FC).
Huge praise goes to Coach Golola for his coaching tactics. He earlier this week won manager of the month of October after leading his side to five wins and two draws in seven games that month.
After two consecutive seasons without winning at home against URA, coach Golola showed why he is the best man for the job after he coached his side to scrap the poor record from the football books.
The previous games between the two sides have seen URA grab 12 wins and only five losses against the Kitende based club and thus they came expecting to capitalize on this advantage.
UPL Tuesday results
- Vipers 1-0 URA
- Kyetume 0-3 Wakiso Giants
- Mbarara City 2-1 Onduparaka
- Busoga United 1-1 Maroons
- Proline 2-1 Bright Stars
However, this was not possible as Dan Sserunkuma’s strike in the 64th minute off substitute Noah Wafula’s cross saw Vipers stretch their unbeaten run to 13 consecutive games.
Meanwhile, in the first half, Sam Ssimbwa’s men created a number of goal scoring chances better than Vipers but all of them went begging to ensure the game ended goalless at the break.
In the second half, however, Vipers who looked more of a threat bounced back and grabbed a win through Dan ‘Muzeeyi’ Sserunkuuma who tapped in Wafula’s through ball.
The final whistle saw Vipers extend their lead at the top of the StarTimes Uganda Premier League table with 33 points whereas struggling URA remained 10th on 14 points.
In other games, Wakiso Giants recorded a comfortable 3-0 away win over Kyetume United.
A win at Bombo was Steven Bengo’s second game as manager and now he has two wins in two games in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
Amos Muwonge, Karim Ndugwa and Viane Ssekajugo were all on target on Tuesday evening as the Purple Sharks ran riot past the Mukono based side.
The win pushed Wakiso Giants to 5th position on the log with 19 points whereas Kyetume remains 9th on 16 points after 14 games.
Other games also saw managerless Mbarara City record a 2-1 home win over Arua boys Onduparaka Football Club. Busoga and Maroons also played to a one-all draw.
Meanwhile, Proline Football Club finally recorded a win after a long spell of winless games. They beat Bright Stars by two goals to one.
