Katwe United Football Club progressed to the 2019/ 2020 FUFA Big League after a hard toiled 3-1 victory against Kajjansi United FC in the second leg of the promotional final at Star Times stadium, Lugogo on 20th June 2019.

The Tulibanyiivu side also owned by Makindye West MP, Allan Ssewanyana bounced back from a 2-1 away loss to Kajjansi United in the first leg of the two-legged promotional finale that was played at the St Mary’s Stadium to qualify with 4-3 goals on aggregate.

The Kampala regional champions, who were back in the final for the second time in a row after losing to Kiboga Young last year had the game in their command for the first minutes with forward Alex Katumba easily beating the advancing goalkeeper Michael Kagiri from a long ball.

At the brink of halftime, Kajjansi’s Ivan Kakumba fouled Michael Lubowa in the forbidden area and Allan Bukenya made no mistake in converting the penalty with goalkeeper Michael Kagiri going the wrong way to extend Katwe’s lead to 3-2 on aggregate by the half time break.

Substitute Isaac Balyejusa who replaced Stanley Kalema in the 65th minute for Kajjansi United FC scored a 70th-minute strike to give his side more hope.

Before Denis Lwetute’s heavily deflected shot with virtually two minutes to play restored Katwe’s two margin goal advantage to 3-1.
