President Museveni says NRM rebel MPs to face the Disciplinary Committee

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni who is also the National Chairman of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) has directed that NRM rebel MPs must face the Party’s Disciplinary Committee.

President Museveni’s pronouncement follows the bad utterances between the NRM Secretary General, Justice Kasule Lumumba and NRM Legal Director.

This was in a meeting of the NRM top organ, the Central Executive Committee (CEC) Party Chairman and President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

The President’s message was conveyed by the NRM Party Secretariat spokesperson, Rogers Mulindwa.

“And CEC directed the government Chief Whip who is also a member of CEC to immediately submit the names of those MPs that have remained defiant or adamant since that issue of Constitution Amendment. Those names are going to come to the Secretary-General, Rt Hon Justine Kasule Lum

Mulindwa says that the party chairman now embarks on the process of filling the vacant posts at the Committee so that it’s constituted to hear the case.

“The Disciplinary Committee has some gaps that we need to patch up and the National Chairperson will fill these gaps, during NEC and then when the full Committee is instituted, then those names of the defiant, errant, so-called rebel MPs will be taken there,” Mulindwa said.

Continuing, Mulindwa revealed that rebel MPs who repented will be reconsidered but those who have already shown the world that they don’t need NRM any more, will be dismissed.

“For those who have been repentant, and they have since the Constitutional Amendment time they have come to term to realise that they were errant, they made a mistake, they never represented the right position of their electorates, those will be pardoned,” Mulindwa said.

“There those we have already seen carrying the Red Beret, you know even if you want to follow the right procedure, but somebody has already shown you the inner part of him, and then you don’t need to keep him around,” Mulindwa added.

Meanwhile, starting on the 21st, January 2020, the NRM Party will be filling positions in the new districts and municipalities as well as posts for those that are dead.

“Elections will be done at the Districts and Municipal levels, that’s in the old districts we shall be filling the gaps created by some of our Executive Members moving into the new Districts. In the new districts we shall be filling those gaps,” Tanga said.
