President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Tuesday evening announced changes in the Uganda Police Force replacing them with Army officers.
In this reshuffle, the fountain of honour and the Commander in Chief appointed Col. Jesse Kamunanwire as the Director Human Resource replacing AIGP Moses Balimwoyo.
Balimwoyo was then transferred to the Directorate of Interpol and International Relations.
Brig. Godfrey Golooba was appointed Director in charge of Human Resource and Development replacing AIGP Haruna Isabirye.
Isabirye was seconded as the police attache to the Uganda mission in New York. Col. Ddamulira Sserunjoji as the Director in charge of Crime Intelligence replacing Senior Commissioner of police, Godfrey Chombe.
SCP Chombe was appointed Deputy Director Interpol at Afripol headquarters in Algeria replacing Benson Oyo Nyeko, Senior Commissioner of Police.
Sserunjoji served as the Deputy Director in charge of counter terrorism in the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI), the intelligence section of UPDF before he was transferred.
Benson Oyo Nyeko, Senior Commissioner of Police was appointed Police Liaison Officer at Afripol headquarters in Algeria. Brig Jack Bakasumbawho was appointed Chief of Joint Staff in Police.
Before his transfer, he served as the Commander Peace Support Operations Training Centre in Singo, Nakaseke District.
Army spokesperson, Richard Karemire via his twitter account congratulated the officers upon their achievement.
“Congratulations to the UPDF general and senior officers seconded and appointed to various positions in the Uganda Police Force. UPDF remains available to support other agencies of government. In their quest to build capacity,” Karemire said.
