Prominent yellow capped man, Tamale Mirundi has advised the State Minister for Privatisation and Investment, Evelyn Anite to quit working for the government or be ready to face death.
Speaking on one local television station, Tamale Mirundi who also referred to President Museveni as the only God who doesn’t support his people said that ministers will suffer because they support and back someone (Mr.Museveni) who doesn’t pay them back in return.
“She should leave the government if she says mafia are after her,” he said.
“If you want to suffer in this government, support Museveni, he’s the only god who doesn’t support his people, he’s becoming a political liability,” he added.
Meanwhile, Mirundi also called on the minister to support the President from the public rather than from within his government.
Tamale Mirundi added that because these ‘mafias’ control the large part of the media, minister Anite will remain quiet for the meantime.
I know how they operate, if you don’t want to be humiliated like that young woman, support President Museveni from the public but not in his government,” he said before adding,
“She’ll not speak again because these very mafias command the media.”
Earlier this week, Evelyn Anite came to the highlight when she admitted that Mafias are planning to kill her following her persistent follow-ups on recent Uganda Telecom saga.
In her words, the minister was quoted saying,
“the plan by the mafias is to take anite out of the picture, I might die but history will judge them. you know the mafias, they are the ones who have been blocking the audit.”
“These mafias are not jokers. go and ask abiriga. I will die with my mouth open, I will die while shouting the mafias are coming until they take me down. they are tapping my phone, I hear their voices when I pick my phone,” added.
In May 2017, UTL was put under administration when the Libyan company that had 69% shares left after the company failed to manage its debt it had accumulated amounting to 700bn shillings.
Also, Teleology Holdings Ltd was chased away by the government after it failed to make payments amounting to 268 billion within three months after Uganda awarded them the contract of taking over UTL as agreed upon by the two parties in the agreement.
According to minister Anite, her concern is to have UTL audited, as High Court in Kampala had commanded two weeks back to have it audited within 30 days following president Museveni’s orders.
And now UTL company is under audit which began last week on Thursday the 16 of August 2019.
However, Keith Muhakanizi, the secretary to the treasury on August 2, 2019, instructed Mr Twebaze Bemanya, not to avail the accounts books to Fixon Okony, the ministry’s internal auditor general trying to block an audit into the company.
But minister Anite is optimistic that she will continue fighting to save Uganda Telecom and exposing the bad elements in government despite the life-threatening threats against her life.
