Criminal Investigation Directorate (CID) has started investigations into the circumstances that led to the untimely death of Ziggy Wine.
Michael Kalinda, a Ugandan young musician, also People Power Movement strong supporter, suffered kidnap, torture and eventually died on Sunday.
Fred Enanga, Police spokesperson on Monday 5 August 2019 said that police have instituted a team of homicide detectives to trace the kidnappers who also tortured Ziggy Wine beyond recognition and left him for dead.
“The detectives from Kawempe Police Division will work along CID homicide officers to establish circumstances under which Ziggy Wine was kidnapped and maimed leading to his death,” Enanga said.
Enanga says Mulago CCTV camera film is going to be retrieved by these detectives to find out who exactly dropped Ziggy Wine at Mulago hospital.
Besides, Enanga asked Ziggy Wine’s family to cooperate with police in this investigation process, by giving them the rightful information and details of the people issuing death threats to them.
Ziggy Wine’s family is said to have filed a police case that ever since their person’s kidnap, they have been receiving death threats from unknown individuals telling them not to disclose any information regarding the kidnap.
Ziggy Wine died yesterday on Sunday evening at Mulago hospital. He was Kidnapped three weeks back by unknown people on his way to the recording studio in Kamwokya a Kampala City suburb.
That day he was dressed red, the People Power official colour.
He was tortured beyond recognition, his two fingers cut off and his eye plucked off as well, and then later dumped near Mulago National Referral Hospital on Friday last week.
He was an upcoming artiste attached to firebase crew owned by Bobi Wine and worked as the social media blogger of the crew.
