President Museveni called for a unified East Africa if Uganda’s economy is to grow and he promised that this will happen before he retires.
“I will go back to my place in Rwakitura and look after my cows if we have a unified East Africa but some people are shouting you go,” Museveni said.
Museveni also told the leaders that the NRM does not promote tribalism and welcomes everybody from various political divide.
President Museveni has been carrying out scientific campaigns which involve meeting NRM leaders from various regions who go back and spread the message but this is not what happens outside the campaign venues.
Yesterday we saw crowds dawned in NRM outfit carrying out processions in Mbarara city without any interference from the security organs and this has been the culture in each area president Museveni has been in.
Dr Chris Balyomunsi the NRM chairman in charge of Western Uganda outlined several achievements done by the NRM government which include improved infrastructure, health care but critics say this has been the message of the NRM for 35 years and it has become stale and no longer works for the young population.
Hon. John Byabagambe the member of parliament for Ibanda south county urged NRM cadres to look for votes and not the first wait for payment and facilitation if they wish their candidate well. He gave examples of opposition members that are looking for votes without even receiving any single penny.
“When you’re asking for facilitation if am to pose a same question to you and ask you how much have you done for your party,” he said
Lt. Bright Rwamirama urged the president to stop the campaign of the opposition which is exposing Ugandans to covid to vote conveniently.
President Museveni is expected today in Bushenyi district where he is going to launch a finished road and is going to be among the best roads. Museveni has been officiating various infrastructures during this campaign trail.
He officiated markets in Tororo and during his campaign in Karamoja he launched a hotel which is going to be the biggest among the region and was constructed by hotel Africana.
