Lilian Mbabazi is a Rwandan- Ugandan female singing, recording and performing diva formerly of the Blue 3 and she is known for her soft and sweet voice.
Her rise to fame came in 2004 after participating in coca-cola pop stars where she emerged as a winner and was directly signed by Steve Jean of fenon to be among the lead singers of the famous girl group Blue 3.
Mbabazi was a radio presenter before she joined the music industry and among the stations, she worked for include capital radio where she replaced Karitas Karisimbi after her departure and City radio.
Lilian Mbabazi is behind songs like Kawa, vitamin, danger and many more jams that still bring the crowds down up to date.
Early life and Education
Lilian Mbabazi was born on 0ctober 28th 1984 in Nsambya hospital. Her parents had migrated to Uganda in 1959 from Rwanda after the civil war that had broken out in Kigali before she was born.
She studied in Uganda and she ended up joining Makerere University where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in social sciences.
Music career
Mbabazi started singing while at the university and it’s during this time that she meant with Steve Jean who advised her to register and join coca-cola pop stars.
Lilian later joined the music industry in 2003 after participating in the coca-cola pop star competition that led to the formation of Blue 3.
While at the group she found musical success with the group, winning the best artist/group from Uganda and best music video from Uganda in the Kisima music awards, video of the year (Hitaji) in the 2005 pearl of Africa music awards.
She also won the video of the year (burn) in the 2007 pearl of Africa music awards and was nominated for the best East African group in 2005 at the Kora Awards.
Lillian won the best East African album award in the 2005 Tanzania music awards and the best East African video (frisky) in 2006 at the Channel O music video awards.
In 2010 their group was nominated among the best East African song (where you are) with Radio and Weasel in the 2010 Tanzania music awards and 2009 as the best performer at the 2009 MTV Africa music awards.
In 2010 Mbabazi embarked on a solo career after the dissolving of the Blue 3 and her first solo single was vitamin featuring weasel which was released in 2010 and was written by Radio the late.
In 2011 she released another single called ”danger” still written by Radio and produced by Washington of Goodlyf magic studios. She collaborated with Navio, AY, P unit and Kitoko from Rwanda.
In 2016, Lilian Mbabazi collaborated with A Pass and released a song called ”memories” which went ahead to win an accolade at the prestigious Hipipo music awards.
She suffered a setback after her husband passed on in 2018 and she almost quit the industry but she is recovering from that trauma of late.
She is currently signed to Deuces entertainment and she is the band leader of the sundowners’ band. She also participated in the second edition of the coke studio in 2014 which happened in Kenya.
Radio career
Mbabazi started working at Capital FM one of the leading FM stations in Uganda where she was hosting the morning breakfast show and this was in the early 2000s.
She however left the station to concentrate on her music career right before the disintegration of Blue 3 and was replaced at the station with Jackie Lumbasi.
She later joined City FM.
Personal life
Lilian Mbabazi was in a relationship with the late musician Mowzey Radio with whom they had two children namely; Asante and Izuba.
The couple had been reported together since their time at Makerere University before their break up a few months into 2015.
After the couple got their first child they faced several issues that eventually led to the breakup and one. Lilian accused Radio of being domestically violent which led to their separation.

Controversy
After the passing on of Mowzey Radio, Lilian Mbabazi fell out with Weasel after Weasel accused him of wanting to steal and take over the Radio’s property which she denies up to date.
When Cindy Sanyu left the Blue 3 she said Lilian was the person behind her departure since she used to talk ill on her which made Steve Jean t fire her from the group.
